Time for a Change
When do you know it’s time for a change? When do you pull the trigger, make the leap? If you’re anything like me, mostly a change doesn’t come from innovation or inspiration. More likely it comes from desperation.
To be clear, the changes I make are great changes. It might be anything from signing up for a course, to finding a new job or quitting a bad relationship. But by the time I make that change, take that leap, friends, family, mere acquaintances are likely to say things like, “It’s about time!” or “Well that’s no surprise.” Or “You’ve been talking about that for a while….”
What I have come to understand is that I first need to get tired of the status quo, sick of complaining or being bored or being hurt, so tired of my own voice and so clear that staying where I am has no possibility of working out that I recognize my only choice is to change.
Why do I tell you this? Well, for two reasons. First, because if you are anything like me it might help immensely to know that if you’re feeling increasingly unhappy, this is a very good thing. This means there’s a change on its way. Second, if you have not yet made that change, there is no need to be down on yourself about it.
If making a change is the right thing to do, eventually it will become the only choice you can make.
